AMBASSADOR Program INFORMATION

LEAD + BUILD + GROW

Our incredible LGBT+ Outdoors Ambassadors serve as the all-volunteer front line of our community, embodying both passion for our mission and the expertise needed to guide Local Chapters into the great outdoors. Even if there is already an Ambassador in your area, we encourage you to apply—many locations have a robust LGBTQ+ community that can benefit from multiple Ambassadors.

Our LGBT+ Outdoors Ambassadors have the following key responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a deep passion for the outdoors and actively promote the mission of LGBT+ Outdoors

  • Uphold high standards of integrity and leadership, coupled with friendly professionalism

  • Commit to hosting events every other month (with the option to host more if desired)

  • Commit to serving as an Ambassador for at least one year, with the opportunity to extend your role if you remain in good standing

  • Assist in recruiting additional LGBT+ Outdoors Ambassadors within your local area

  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all LGBTQIA+ individuals

  • Complete an Ambassador Release Form annually

  • Serve as a Moderator for the State Facebook group you represent

Our local events are free for attendees, though we encourage donations to support our mission, excluding hard costs like kayak rentals or park entry fees. The Ambassador Program relies heavily on donations and event sponsorships for its continued success.

Interested in becoming an Ambassador? Here’s how to apply:

  1. Request an application by clicking the link below (it will be sent to you immediately; please check your spam folder if you don't see it).

  2. Submit your application as prompted on the screen.

  3. If your application stands out, we will arrange a video chat interview to get to know you better.

Rest assured, LGBT+ Outdoors Ambassadors are never alone — we’re here to support you every step of the way! If you have basic questions before hand, feel free to reach out to our Ambassador Program Director, Cherie Bélanger, at cherie@lgbtoutdoors.com. Keep in mind the interview serves to answer most questions and you are not committing to the program by accepting the interview.

Please note: We are currently accepting applications only in the United States and Canada.
