ACTIVITY: Easy Hike

LOCATION: Naperville, IL

SUGGESTED LGBT OUTDOORS DONATION: $10

DOGS ALLOWED: Yes, on a leash.

Join me for an easy walk through the blooming bluebells!

This hike will include some easy trails some of which are dirt and could be muddy if it has rained. But don't let that deter you!

If I have timed this hike correctly we will see lots of bluebells. No picture needed more than that! There are also some woods and a river where I saw a bald eagle last year. Come join me for this one.

Note the early start time for this one. This is a popular area this time of year, so I am trying to beat the crowds.

HOST: Cherie Bélanger | New England Ambassador

ACTIVITY: Hiking

LOCATION: Lincoln, NH

SUGGESTED LGBT OUTDOORS DONATION: $10

ACTIVITY FEE(S): Free

MINORS ALLOWED: Yes

DOGS ALLOWED: Yes, on a leash

Join us for a repeat of a popular hike we last did 2 years ago. This loop is a 6 mile hike with approximately 1200 feet of gain. The first 2.5 miles to Lonesome Lake will feature a steady incline up the Cascade Brook trail, with 2 water crossings that will require good balance hopping between stepping stones. There will be multiple waterfalls along the trail as we make our way up.

In late April there is typically still some snow and ice once we get about 800 feet up, so microspikes or other traction gear will be necessary.

We will stop at the Lonesome Lake hut for break and snacks, then it's an easy flat half mile on boardwalks across the marshland on the west side of the lake. There will be gorgeous views of the Cannon Balls and Franconia Ridge most of the time we are at the lake.

There will be a 1 mile steep decent coming down from the lake bringing us to the Franconia Notch bike path, which we will take for a mostly flat 2 miles on a paved path back to the trailhead.

This is a fun 3.6 mile moderate loop trail over some hills and bridges. This is one of my favorite places to go! It has easy parking and is dog friendly.

It can be a little muddy in places so a good pair of boots are recommended. The scenery here is very nice. Great opportunity to add a few miles to the 100 Mile Club on Strava!

We will be hiking on the outskirts of Yosemite to see some stunning waterfalls! Corlieu Falls and Red Rock Falls are our destination.

We will start with the Corlieu hike, then head to the Red Rock Falls. Though the elevation gain is only about 500 ft, we will be almost a mile high in elevation! We will rest as much as we need for any new hikers. Take a half day off, and be surrounded by the sounds of nature, rushing water, and being around our inclusive community. This event will be almost 4 miles of hikes, so please be ready to spend at least half a day hiking, but believe me when I say, the views are worth it!

I will reach out to set up possible carpooling to help with parking as it may get busy!
