This event is to attend a Pride Foraging walk with Diana Burnell from Edible Excursions.

During the class, Diane will review various edibles (greens, garlic/onions, flowers, roots, herbs, etc), discuss sustainable harvesting techniques and local laws, review invasive edible species and collect specimens to study/taste. Learn 20-30 edible species that are available now and take some home with you to enjoy!
The walk will be followed by a wild drink tasting featuring mead, shrubs, sodas and syrups and social hour with some foraged snacks! Rainbow attire encouraged! *Please note: If rain/weather is an issue on the event date, a rain date will be emailed out to registrants.

I am organizing a group from LGBTQ Outdoors to attend Wilderness Survival trainings offered by Owl Eye Wilderness. Wilderness Survival 1 is the first of a 4-part training series. Dates and descriptions for each training are below, and more information can be found at https://www.owleyeswilderness.com/classes
REGISTRATION AND SCHEDULE
You MUST register and pay for Wilderness Survival 1 through Owl Eye Wilderness' Eventbrite page (https://www.owleyeswilderness.com/calendar) in addition to registering through LGBTOutdoors. If you are interested in taking the rest of the 4-part training series, the cost of Wilderness Survival 1 can be applied to a Wilderness Survival Package 1-4.
Participants MUST take Wilderness Survival 1 before Wilderness Survival 2-4.
All trainings are outdoors in Townsend, MA from 9a-3p.

May 17: WILDERNESS SURVIVAL 1 - INTRODUCTION TO NATURE
This introductory class will set you up with the basic skills to keep yourself warm, hydrated, and fed in the wilderness. Foundational skills for hikers, backpackers, hunters, trail runners, or anyone wishing to enjoy the outdoors. Wilderness Survival 1 prepares you with basic outdoor skills that will build your confidence, expand your knowledge, and deepen your connection to nature.

Backpack Hike | MA

If you’re planning on (or just interested in) going backpacking, join us for an equipped training hike on this moderate 4.5 mile loop around Lynn Woods, a reservation of 2,200 acres with over 30 miles of scenic trails and three active reservoirs.
With our gear, we'll start by the Rose Garden and loop counterclockwise, stopping for snacks half-way at Walden Pond. With less than 100 feet in elevation change, this is an ideal loop to train for backpacking. The anticipated pace will be 1.5 - 2 miles per hour (30 - 40 minutes per mile) with about 30 minutes for a snack break.
