LOCATION: Augusta, MI

SUGGESTED LGBT OUTDOORS DONATION: $10

ACTIVITY FEE(S): Free

MINORS ALLOWED: Yes

DOGS ALLOWED: Yes, on a leash

Come join us on another hike, this time in the scenic Kellogg Forest!

This 716-acre preserve is also a research center for studying tree planting and genetics, and over 157 unique species call this preserve a home. Let's go and enjoy a 2-2.5 hour hike under the canopy of large pine and other hardwood trees, between rows of rosebushes, and around fields of wildflowers!

The west side of this preserve can be pretty rugged, so come prepared with suitable shoes. The trails are all grass here and grows long in spots. Also, there are some moderate elevation changes to speak of, but nothing too out of the ordinary for West Michigan. Part of the North Country Trail also runs through the forest here, so we might also check that out, time permitting!

HOST: Mitchell Lapham | Michigan Ambassador

ACTIVITY: Hiking

LOCATION: Kalamazoo, MI

SUGGESTED LGBTQ OUTDOORS DONATION: $10

ACTIVITY FEE(S): Free

MINORS ALLOWED: Yes

DOGS ALLOWED: Yes, on a leash

Start Pride Month off right by joining us on a hike through the scenic and historic Asylum Lake Preserve! You will walk through beautiful lakeside scenery and learn about the history of this preserve on this hike (which should take about 2 hours) trekking down various trails in this park.

The trails here vary from flat pavement by the prairies to small dirt trails, so come prepared. There are some elevation changes here, but nothing too drastic, so this will be a relatively laid-back hike.

This is also a great place to start if you're interested in learning about geocaching! There are currently 9 geocaches scattered throughout the preserve and we will be walking past some of them on our hike.

Parking may be an issue, I encourage prospective hikers to carpool if possible as spaces fill up fast here. There are some additional parking spots across the road if needed.

Join us for a fun and leisurely spring paddle on the beautiful and bountiful Huron River!

While the Huron Water Trail offers 104 miles to explore, we plan to paddle 1.5 miles downstream to downtown Milford before turning around and heading back upstream to our starting point. The Huron boasts a gentle current of about 2-3 MPH and is easily navigable by all ages and skill levels. The planned paddle should take around 2 hours on the water, allowing for some time to pause and enjoy the beauty of the river.

We will start our paddle from Heavner Canoe & Kayak Rental - Proud Lake, so those without a kayak or canoe will have the opportunity to rent them for $35-50 depending on if they'd like a single/tandem kayak or canoe.

See you there!
