We'll do a 7.5 mile hike at this amazing park. Huntsville State Park lies in the piney woods of the Sam Houston National Forest. It is dominated by loblolly and shortleaf pines and encloses the 210-acre Lake Raven. Lake Raven offers fishing for crappie, perch, catfish, and bass. Our hike will take us around the lake, and provide a chance to see birds and other wildlife.

Hey everyone! Get ready for an unforgettable day connecting with nature, fellow adventurers, and your own inner explorer! This isn't just a hike; it's an interactive journey designed to bring us closer as a community AND a fantastic way to kick off Pride Month! As June approaches, filled with LGBTQ+ Pride events where we will be participating, promoting, and possibly marching, this is the perfect opportunity to get together, make group plans, and celebrate the beginning of our vibrant month in the sanctuary of nature!

The hike will take approximately 2.5 hours.

👀Part 1: Create Your Own Story - A Wilderness Wander Through Nature's Canvas! 🍃
Oak Cliff Nature Preserve, 2875 Pierce St, Dallas, TX 75233

⭐We're heading to the 121-acre Oak Cliff Nature Preserve for a unique, collaborative exploration across its over eight miles of trails. Forget a single-file line – we'll divide into smaller teams, each charting a slightly different course through this urban oasis. Choose your adventure from the White Loop, Yellow Loop, Blue Loop, or Red Loop - just like the colors of the rainbow Pride flag! As we wander through the beautiful, mostly shaded forest, take time to appreciate the varied terrain, the rustling leaves, and the sunlight filtering through the canopy. Keep an eye out not only for the whimsical art installations scattered throughout but also for the subtle wonders of nature around you – the unique flora, the songs of the birds, and the peacefulness of the woods. This "Create Your Own Story" style hike encourages you to feel the thrill of discovery and the joy of navigating alongside your teammates. If time permits, we'll gather together to do the Full Loop at the end, once the individual groups find each other at our designated locations. It's a chance to connect with the natural world and each other in a fun and engaging way! We anticipate concluding the hike around noon.

👀Part 2: Gregarious Aftermath Meet-Up at Punch Bowl Social! 🎉🍻
Punch Bowl Social, 2600 Main St, Dallas, TX 75226

⭐After our successful and enriching journey through the preserve, prepare for an equally exciting finale at Punch Bowl Social in Deep Ellum! After the hike, we will carpool or caravan to the location about 15 minutes away. Spread over two floors, this 24,000-square-foot playground features three bars , a scratch kitchen serving up delicious fare, and a host of ridiculously entertaining options. We plan to arrive around 12:30 PM, and depending on the number of registered members, we will have a reservation for service and game play until around 2-3 PM, when their brunch specials end. However, groups and individuals are welcome to stay and play longer, spread out and explore the lively Deep Ellum neighborhood or pop on over to the Gayborhood around the corner in Oak Lawn!

Join us for a group kayaking adventure on Lake Woodlands. This is a 200-acre freshwater lake right in the middle of The Woodlands, TX. We’ll pickup our Kayaks from Riva Row Boat House, and hop in the water in The Woodlands Waterway. We’ll paddle down the waterway and into the lake, where we’ll travel around a little bit, until we’re ready to head back.

Please do not wait to make your reservations with the kayak company, as availability will go fast!

Join us at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center for this one-of-a-kind opportunity. This walking tour will be guided by the Arboretum’s Conservation Director. We will explore some of the habitats and discuss the conservation and restoration work that helps a place like this thrive. There will be plenty of plants to point out, and maybe some critters too.

The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is a 155-acre urban nature sanctuary on the western edge of Memorial Park that has provided nature education since 1967. There are five miles of nature trails passing through a nature prairie, savanna, wetland, woodland, and riparian habitats. With the eight ponds, wetland areas, and nearby Buffalo Bayou, there are often opportunities for wildlife sightings.

Join us as we trek through one of the largest nature parks in the Houston area. Cullinan Park is well known as a place to enjoy birding, fishing, hiking, picnicking and other outdoor activities. We’ll be hiking 4 miles on this outing and see first-hand why this place is so popular.

Cullinan Park expands 750 acres of prairie and woodlands and has over 276 species of birds and 378 species of plants. During our adventure, we might even spot the resident gator!

This will be a 4-mile hike through one of the largest urban wilderness preserves in the United States. We will pass through a natural wetland forest, a prairie, and marsh habitat, that are home to 370 species of birds, mammal, reptiles, and amphibians.

This preserve is dedicated to outdoor education, so they often have info posted around about the plants and critters too. Don’t miss this opportunity to see this beautiful spot.

Lace up your hiking boots and this scenic hike will take us through two captivating trails.

We will begin our journey on a hidden gem known for its peaceful tranquility and lush greenery. As we wind your way through towering trees and colorful wildflowers, we'll feel as though we've stepped into a secret garden. The trail's gentle undulations offer a comfortable climb, making it perfect for hikers of all levels. As we break off of this first trail, we'll prepare for a more challenging but equally rewarding adventure.

This second trail takes us along the scenic shores of a picturesque lake, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape and city. As we ascend the trail, listen for the sound of rushing water. We'll soon discover a hidden cascade where the creek spills over moss-covered rocks, a perfect spot to pause and appreciate the beauty of nature and our adventure together.

Meet your new Fort Worth Ambassadors! This hike offers a scenic boardwalk that immerses visitors in the natural beauty of the Texas wilderness through diverse ecosystems, with wetlands, prairies, and woodlands providing a serene backdrop.

As you stroll along the boardwalk, enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature and the fresh air, all while keeping an eye out for local wildlife--including American White Pelicans. We will also stop to observe a local population of prairie dogs.

Come join us for an indoor mountain climbing adventure! Tickets will also include access to the climbing wall and other attractions throughout the park.

Children are welcome, but they must be over 48" tall and 88 lbs to participate in the climbing adventure.

Food will not be provided, but we will go out for food and drinks afterwards but there is also a cafe in the park.

It's Texas and it's summer. That means it's hot. So let's meet up for a social gathering in the air conditioning!

We grab a large table, discuss hiking and through hiking with an emphasis on gear, and enjoy each other's company while having a delicious meal.

We'll be joining instructors for a hike, yoga, and intro into forest bathing. We will practice yoga for approximately 30 minutes. This will be a standing practice on a semi-even surface so no mat will be needed.

You will also be introduced to Forest Bathing and learn how to use your senses to connect with Nature.

Last, we will embark on a group hike for a max of 3 miles.

We will explore the spot that has very beautiful views with a nice cove. Guests will have the option to do a short hike, and then lounge in the cove with cold drinks and fruits!

We will bring blankets, coolers, cold drinks, fruits and a lot of good outdoor spirit!

Let's hit the water for the first kayaking event for 2024.

Don't have a kayak? No worries, details for renting a kayak will be provided after registration. They also have double kayaks.

The group will cruise up the Brazos river to the Mouth of the Bosque river. From there we will explore the calm water river that comes directly from Waco Lake.

Afterwards we will meet at Slow Rise Pizza for lunch.
