ACTIVITY: Overnight Backpacking
LOCATION: Vail, CO
ACTIVITY FEE(S): Free
MINORS ALLOWED: No
DOGS ALLOWED: No
7/4/25
Meet, gear check, carpool and leave the Denver area at 8 am. Arrive at the trailhead around 12:00 pm.
Backpack 3.8 miles to the beautiful Lake Constantine via the Halfmoon Trailhead. Total Elevation gain from the Halfmoon Trailhead is just over 1700' on class 1 trail. Set up camp, take a nap, fish, eat dinner, and stargaze!
7/5/25 Optional Hike
Leave Lake Constantine at 7 am for the exploratory hike up Holy Cross Ridge. This class 2 hike is off trail, and may require some route finding. Be prepared for travel over talus slopes with some short steep sections. Total elevation gain from Lake Constantine to Holy Cross Ridge is 2800' in 3 miles. Return to Lake Constantine following our route back the way we came.
Those who opt to remain at camp continue relaxing at the Lake Constantine or explore the lovely Tuhare Lakes below the Holy Cross Ridge. Be ready to give me a foot rub when I return.;)
7/6/25
Wake up, eat breakfast, pack up, and be on the trail by 9am. Hike the 3.8 downhill miles back to the Halfmoon Trailhead. Return to Denver abour 12:00 pm.
Lake Constantine would be a nice backpack for the novice and/or the more seasoned outdoorsy person. Class 1 trail means there is a clearly established trail with no route finding.
Holy Cross Ridge is a class 2 hike meaning there is not an establised trail, so route finding will be necessary. Expect travel through talus (rock). Travel is typically slow through this terrain.

🏳️🌈🌳 Fun Wilderness Wander & Pride Month Kickoff: Meet-Up! 🌳🏳️🌈
Hey everyone! Get ready for an unforgettable day connecting with nature, fellow adventurers, and your own inner explorer! This isn't just a hike; it's an interactive journey designed to bring us closer as a community AND a fantastic way to kick off Pride Month! As June approaches, filled with LGBTQ+ Pride events where we will be participating, promoting, and possibly marching, this is the perfect opportunity to get together, make group plans, and celebrate the beginning of our vibrant month in the sanctuary of nature!
The hike will take approximately 2.5 hours.
👀Part 1: Create Your Own Story - A Wilderness Wander Through Nature's Canvas! 🍃
Oak Cliff Nature Preserve, 2875 Pierce St, Dallas, TX 75233
⭐We're heading to the 121-acre Oak Cliff Nature Preserve for a unique, collaborative exploration across its over eight miles of trails. Forget a single-file line – we'll divide into smaller teams, each charting a slightly different course through this urban oasis. Choose your adventure from the White Loop, Yellow Loop, Blue Loop, or Red Loop - just like the colors of the rainbow Pride flag! As we wander through the beautiful, mostly shaded forest, take time to appreciate the varied terrain, the rustling leaves, and the sunlight filtering through the canopy. Keep an eye out not only for the whimsical art installations scattered throughout but also for the subtle wonders of nature around you – the unique flora, the songs of the birds, and the peacefulness of the woods. This "Create Your Own Story" style hike encourages you to feel the thrill of discovery and the joy of navigating alongside your teammates. If time permits, we'll gather together to do the Full Loop at the end, once the individual groups find each other at our designated locations. It's a chance to connect with the natural world and each other in a fun and engaging way! We anticipate concluding the hike around noon.
💐 Forge Connections in the Wild:
This interactive hike is more than just a walk in the woods. It's an opportunity to build camaraderie, foster trust, and share the exhilaration of exploration. By navigating the trails together, you'll discover new strengths within yourself and your teammates. Embrace the feeling of venturing slightly off the beaten path within our safe group, and let the shared experience create lasting bonds as we gear up for a vibrant Pride Month!
👀Part 2: Gregarious Aftermath Meet-Up at Punch Bowl Social! 🎉🍻
Punch Bowl Social, 2600 Main St, Dallas, TX 75226
⭐After our successful and enriching journey through the preserve, prepare for an equally exciting finale at Punch Bowl Social in Deep Ellum! After the hike, we will carpool or caravan to the location about 15 minutes away. Spread over two floors, this 24,000-square-foot playground features three bars , a scratch kitchen serving up delicious fare, and a host of ridiculously entertaining options. We plan to arrive around 12:30 PM, and depending on the number of registered members, we will have a reservation for service and game play until around 2-3 PM, when their brunch specials end. However, groups and individuals are welcome to stay and play longer, spread out and explore the lively Deep Ellum neighborhood or pop on over to the Gayborhood around the corner in Oak Lawn!

Start Pride Month off right by joining us on a hike through the scenic and historic Asylum Lake Preserve! You will walk through beautiful lakeside scenery and learn about the history of this preserve on this hike (which should take about 2 hours) trekking down various trails in this park.
The trails here vary from flat pavement by the prairies to small dirt trails, so come prepared. There are some elevation changes here, but nothing too drastic, so this will be a relatively laid-back hike.
This is also a great place to start if you're interested in learning about geocaching! There are currently 9 geocaches scattered throughout the preserve and we will be walking past some of them on our hike.
Parking may be an issue, I encourage prospective hikers to carpool if possible as spaces fill up fast here. There are some additional parking spots across the road if needed.

I'm planning a visit to a fascinating local spot that features a really interesting geological formation created by glaciers. It also boasts a surprisingly diverse collection of plant life, with some species you might not expect to see in Northern Illinois.
We'll be taking an easygoing trail route of around four miles, with plenty of opportunities to stop and explore along the way. There's even an observation tower that we can check out.
Sorry but you cannot bring your furry 4 legged dog friends on this one. :(
I think this will be a really unique experience, and I'd love for you to join me.

We will be doing the White Rock Falls Loop in George Washington National Forest.
This is a moderate 5 mile hike with about 1,000 feet in elevation gain. There are numerous water features so I would anticipate a few stops to enjoy the falls for a total of a 2.5 to 3.0 hour hike.

Come join us for spectacular views, incredible people, and one of the most enjoyable mountain hikes in the Adirondacks: Mount Van Hoevenberg! This mountain is also part of the Lake Placid 9 Challenge, for those working towards their patch!
MT VAN HOEVENBERG: THE FACTS:
Distance: 3.6 miles round trip
Elevation: 2,860 feet
Elevation gain: 1,000 feet
Hikers begin a gentle climb to one of the finest views of the High Peaks after signing in. Switchbacks are used throughout the trail so that the climb is never very steep as it meanders through the woods. Thanks to sustainable design, hard work, and trail maintenance, it's easy to spend time concentrating on the journey and not worrying about tripping over roots. In the spring, you'll see tons of bright wildflowers. The hardened trail is easy on the knees, with the grade never exceeding 12%.

Arizona | Hangover Trail Hike
HOST: Benjamin Nicholas | Arizona Ambassador
ACTIVITY: Hiking
LOCATION: Sedona, AZ
SUGGESTED LGBT OUTDOORS DONATION: $10
ACTIVITY FEE(S): $5, Day pass per Vehicle
MINORS ALLOWED: Yes, over 13 years
DOGS ALLOWED: No
Join Ambassador Benjamin for a lovely spring hike on this moderately challenging trail! The Hangover Loop is 7.9 miles with 1250' of climbing. Caveat: while AllTrails rates this trail as moderately challenging physically, it's considered more difficult mentally especially if you're afraid of heights. There are parts of the trail that are steep with sheer drop offs, and it's very important to know your limits. However, those who don't want to do the exposed part of the trail are welcome to join us for the canyon portion of the trail and then turn around.
The trail features forested canyons, creek crossings, stunning views of the red rocks, and some rocky scrambles. We'll meander up the historic Munds Wagon Trail through Damfino Canyon, cross the "Cow Pies" rock formation, and then climb over the ridge (this is where the trail gets exposed) to descend back down into Damfino Canyon.
Not suitable for dogs or kiddos under 13.
We will meet at the Schnebly Hill trailhead. Day passes are $5 per car. Parking is limited so definitely consider carpooling!
